Kirstie (McDermott) Moot is a dancer and Artistic Director of Kansas City Dance Collective. She studied dance at Stephens College in Columbia Missouri where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a Major in Dance. During her time at Stephens, Kirstie studied ballet and modern techniques under the direction of Elizabeth Hartwell, Jan Miller, and Deborah Carr. After college, she established her career in Kansas City having been a company member of Storling Dance Theater, City in Motion Dance Theater, Gurukul Dance Troupe and VidaDance. She also performs in local independent productions. In addition to her experience as a professional performer, Kirstie shares her skills by teaching dance to students at her company, Kansas City Dance. This allows her to work with students on a one-by-one basis and promote growth through individualized training. Kirstie has been guiding the artistic direction of KCDC since its inception in January 2022. Kirstie works closely with the Board of Directors and each dancer to fulfill our mission of creating productions that grow opportunities for local artists and audiences.
